Timothy Dundon and his alter ego Zeke the Sheik are out on the pile at 29 Mountain View in Altadena, California. There are no servers at Tim's house. He does not have a T1 line, DSL, Cablemodem, dial-up, or a home computer. Occasionally, he would trek down to Dr. Music's to check email on a hotmail account set up for him.

Thanks to Kevin Willis, Tim finally had a website. As that hosting deal expired, we all got together and decided to move Tim over to David Wolfberg's hosting account of republicof.com (don't look there, there's nothing at all). We have moved the entire site over here so you can see it in its original incarnation (click the last two words below). Dr. Music has unfortunately closed his shop. We will continue to forward emails to Tim via telephone and occasional printout - email us at

mulch (at) 2doo.com

Tim provides all the life force one could ask for, and David's tomatoes worked out great this year with help from Tim. In 2007, Tim has delivered more material than ever to customers and community gardens. Since global warming is, well, an acknowledged thing, people are generally more open to Tim's message than ever before.

Note two major media events for Tim and the Pile. Jay Babcock has delivered a hundred copies of Arthur Magazine to Tim and more are available at various outlets. Tim is featured prominently in a terrific article by Daniel Chamberlain.

You can download the complete 64-page magazine as a PDF in three parts:

Part 1 (8.5mb)

Part 2 (7.0mb)

Part 3 (4.3mb)

The second media event? Tim has been discovered by Sweden. Swedish TV has declared him one of the five most interesting people to meet in Los Angeles (which, to borrow a quote from The Big Lebowski, puts him in the running for most interesting worldwide).

Now, winter is here. The vines are dying. 'tis the season for rebuilding a website. So, we're gradually building content from Kevin's original 2doo site and adding some new things. This may be a slow process, like the subtle shuttle itself.

So, have a look around, and when you run out of stuff to read, check out the original site!

The “magic carpet” as Tim has called it, once stood 30-feet high and nearly 200 feet wide. Tim's property is home to a one-acre sanctuary of cacti, azaleas, kumquats, green onions and banana trees - to name just a few! Tim Dundon's Oasis

Mr. Dundon - called the "King of Compost" by Organic Gardening Magazine® - cultivated the mammoth compost pile in the backyard of his Altadena home, carefully blending household garbage, animal droppings and mulch into an organic tower of supercharged soil!

Tim has demonstrated that the management of organic material is not only fun, but also takes those who are involved into a whole new dimension of enlightenment. Dedicating his entire life to proving the marvel of mulch, this man has accomplished wonders towards the education of schools, children, their families and the community at large.
